Hometown Hero

The Scarlett family of Brantford is this year's 'Miracle Family' for Miracle Treat Day on August 13th.
In September 2025, at just 8 years old, Ben was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL). In an instant, his family’s world changed forever.
Since then, Ben has endured 10 months of intensive chemotherapy, countless blood tests, procedures, medications, and hospital stays. Despite everything he’s faced, Ben continues to show incredible courage, resilience, and a positive attitude that inspires everyone around him.
His amazing younger siblings, Thomas (6) and Emily (4), miss him greatly during his longer hospital stays, but Ben’s spirit remains unstoppable! He recently completed a triathlon, plays rugby twice a week with the Brantford Harlequins, practices golf, and has even taken up tennis!

The doctors, nurses, Child Life specialists, and staff at McMaster Children's Hospital have become an essential part of Ben's journey, providing exceptional care, compassion, and support during the most difficult time.
Ben has now entered the maintenance phase of his treatment, which will continue until January 2028. His family is incredibly proud of his strength and remains hopeful as he continues this journey with determination and his signature smile. Brave Ben is a true hero!
Join us on Miracle Treat Day - Thursday, August 13th! When you buy a Blizzard® Treat, 100% of net proceeds go directly to supporting children’s hospitals like McMaster Children's Hospital to help inspiring kids like Ben.

Together, we can make a difference—one scoop at a time!
