Crude oil dropped about 10 bucks a barrel from yesterday. Gas prices up another 3 cents to $1.89. Well, there's apparently been a ceasefire in the Middle East. Iran, the US and Israel say they've reached a deal a two-week ceasefire. Tarrant said negotiations with the U.S. will happen in Islamabad beginning on Friday, although Israel's prime minister made it clear he's going to continue bombing Lebanon. The prime minister was in the GTA yesterday to talk about his plans to dole out $51 billion in infrastructure spending announced from the budget. Ontario will use its allotment to waive sales tax on eligible new homes for the next year. Home sales in the GTA were up on a year-over-year basis in March for the first time in six months, while average selling prices were lower again, according to the Toronto Real Estate Board. It was a 1.7% increase from the same month last year. Board's president called it an encouraging sign. Premier Ford's government proposing new housing legislation. It would see Ontario municipalities no longer require developers. Factor in certain green initiatives beyond what's needed for health and safety or the building code. A spokesperson said making the standards voluntary will help lower costs to build projects. And Toronto said it's expanding a free air conditioner program for certain low-income residents in multi-unit buildings. The city said it will offer 1,000 free portable AC units this year. Eligible residents need to send in an application and will then be selected through a random draw. Sports baseball yesterday, Blue Jays lost again, this time 4-1 to the Dodgers. That home series wraps up with one more game this afternoon at 3. NBA last night, Raptors beat Miami 121.95. They host Miami again tomorrow at 7. NHL last night, Montreal beat Florida in a shootout Ottawa beat Tampa Bay, but Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver all lost. Leafs host Washington tonight at 7.30.
