Thunderstorms rolled through parts of the GTHA yesterday. Several homes in Halton were damaged. Whole bunch of trees got knocked down after a severe thunderstorm blew through. Now the weather looks so much better for the weekend, we'll have the details coming up. It's been called price fixing, but we'll call it what it is, stealing from consumers. Courts said to decide whether a multi-million dollar proposed settlement will go ahead. with beef price fixing. Lawyers behind the class action say a group of companies is accused of conspiring to fix the price of beef by reducing volumes and controlling market supply. Now, they've already agreed to pay $8 million. The suit is similar to the price fixing of bread that started in 2001 and was paid out 23 years later. Tyson Foods in the U.S. already paid out over $220 million when they admitted to inflating the price of chicken. Now, according to Canadian stats, beef prices have jumped 65% since 2021, and while the price fixing was allegedly discovered, they have not done anything to reduce the price of beef. And the Rolling Stones are releasing their 25th album today. According to guitarist Ronnie Wood, the project partly channels the band's legendary Alma Combo gigs in Toronto under the pseudonym The Cockroaches. The two shows in 1977 became the stuff of legends when fans packed the club waiting for an opening act for April Wine only to discover they were watching the Rolling Stones. Sports, CFL yesterday, Ottawa lost to Edmonton 40-17. The Argos are in Winnipeg tonight, 8.30. The Thai Cats don't play till Sunday. They'll be in Saskatchewan at 7. World Cup Soccer quarterfinals, France blank Morocco 2-0. Today, Spain will play Belgium at 3. The Blue Jays were off last night. They start up a weekend Rd. series tonight in San Diego 940. The WNBA tonight, Toronto Tempo play Dallas and Montreal at 7.30. And Leonard's trade to the Raptors is on hold because the NBA is looking into allegations the Clippers circumvented salary cap rules. Weather, we've got some sunshine today. There's still a chance of showers or a thunderstorm and that humidex will feel mid 30s. Tonight it all clears after midnight, a low of 17. Sunshine tomorrow with a humidex of 30 and Sunday, same thing. Sunny humidex close to 30. Right now it's 20 degrees in Brantford. 20 in Hamilton, it's 20 in Kitchener. I'm Stacey Englehart.
