The City of Brantford and County of Brant have officially paused plans for a major municipal boundary adjustment involving the airport. Officials say the upcoming election leaves insufficient time to finalize details and provide a proper public review.
The Ford government is looking into reopening the Brantford Jail as part of its plans to expand jail capacity. Officials say it could add 125 beds to the province's jail system. The province announced in the spring it would spend $3 billion to expand overcrowded jails.
Statistics Canada is set to release its latest Labour Force Survey for July this morning. According to a Reuters poll of economists, Canada is expected to have added 15,000 jobs last month, with the unemployment rate staying the same at 6.5 percent.
This weekend is the 16th annual Brantford Kinsmen Ribfest at Mohawk Park. There will be live music, theatre, community events, and of course, ribs. It runs today through Sunday.

At the National Bank Open, Ottawa's Gabriela Dabrowski and her Russian partner were eliminated in women's doubles. Leylah Fernandez teamed up with her sister Bianca, but lost their doubles match. In women's singles, Fernandez will face reigning French Open champion Mirra Andreeva.
